Overview GovCIO is currently looking for a Hardware/Storage Administrator/Systems Engineer (SME) for our Courts proposal. This position will be located in San Antonio, TX. Responsibilities Highly specialized in one or more phases of software systems development, systems integration, hardware, storage, or network engineering. Acts independently under general direction. Provides technical assistance and advice on complex activities such as installation, configuration, repair and maintenance; allocation of storage requests support: deployment, configuration, and backup/restore services for all servers, physical or virtual. Provide capacity planning, installation, configuration, problem resolution, and Tier 3 support of all servers, hosts and supporting applications. Provide assistance in agent configuration and troubleshooting. Formulates/defines specifications, develops/modifies/maintains complex systems and subsystems, using vendor engineering releases and utilities for overall operational systems. Applies analytical techniques when gathering information from users, defining work problems, designing technology solutions, and developing procedures to resolve the problems. Develops complete specifications to enable computer programmers to prepare required programs. Analyzes methods of approach. Reviews task proposal requirements, gathers information, analyzes data, prepares project synopses, compares alternatives, prepares specifications, resolves processing problems, coordinates work with programmers and engineers, and orients users to new systems. Works with considerable freedom to make decisions on the techniques and approaches to be used. Prepares recommendations for system improvement for management and user consideration.
Qualifications Bachelor's with 5 -8 years (or commensurate experience) Considerable knowledge of the job. Complete understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job, and its application. Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources. Server support experience, including blades and enclosures (preferred platform: HP) SAN switch experience Enterprise storage system experience (Hitachi VSP required, HP 3PAR a plus VMware system administration (preferred ESXi 5.X) OS System Administration Skills (both Red Hat Linux and Windows) Network Administration experience (related to firewalls, LAN, DNS, etc.) Scripting experience (bash, Powershell, korn) Backup administrator experience in a SAN environment (preferred application: NetBackup) Experience with Domino administration Clearance Required: Ability to acquire and maintain Public Trust
