About Us At Autonomous Solutions, Inc. (ASI), we are a global leader in vehicle automation solutions. Our technology enables safe, efficient, and scalable automation for industries such as solar, agriculture, construction, landscaping, and more. With a commitment to innovation and excellence, ASI continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in autonomous technology. Our Mission is to help you reach your potential through innovative robotic solutions. We pride ourselves in our core values: Safe, Simple, Transparent, Growth, Humble, and Attention to Detail. About the Role We are hiring Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) Engineers across multiple levels (I-V) to join our robotics team. As a GNC Engineer, you will design, implement, and validate control and localization algorithms that power our unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). Your work will include modeling, simulation, tuning, and real-world deployment in cross-disciplinary environments. You will work closely with embedded software engineers, perception experts, and systems teams to deliver reliable autonomous systems. This role includes both simulation-based development and field implementation. You will directly shape how ASI's autonomous vehicles perform in complex, real-world environments. From tuning controllers on rugged machinery to developing estimation algorithms and deploying systems at customer sites, your work will be essential in ensuring the accuracy, safety, and responsiveness of our robotic platforms. We need engineers who thrive not only in algorithm development but also in real-world deployment and troubleshooting. This is a hybrid position that requires three days (Tuesday through Thursday) on-site. Job Duties Design, implement, and test control and localization algorithms for autonomous ground vehicles apply them to real-world systems. Tune control systems and implement them on embedded platforms such as vehicle control units (VCUs). Model and simulate mechanical and electrical systems using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink. Validate systems through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and field testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Embedded Software, Mechanical, Perception, and Systems Engineering. Document analysis, designs, tuning methods, and performance results. Support field integration, testing, and debugging activities. Contribute to customer proposal writing and technical documentation. Develop or apply control methods such as PID tuning, state space control, or advanced/robust controllers. Write or contribute to technical papers, internal white papers, and research documentation. Level Breakdown GNC Engineer I Typically 0-2 years of experience. May have internship or academic research background. Bachelor's degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Controls, Robotics, or Localization, or related field Supports tuning of existing control systems under supervision. Participates in validation and simulation. Strong learning orientation with mentorship. GNC Engineer II 2-4 years of experience in a relevant field. Master's degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Controls, Robotics, or Localization or related field Capable of modifying and tuning control systems with some independence. Supports field deployments and data collection. May contribute to early-stage system modeling and estimation. GNC Engineer III 4-6 years of experience. Master's degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Controls, Robotics, or Localization or related field Independently adapts and implements control and localization algorithms for specific vehicle platforms. Owns validation from simulation to HIL and field testing. Works across multiple teams and systems. GNC Engineer IV 6+ years of experience. Master's degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Controls, Robotics, or Localization or related field. Leads development of new control systems. Provides design guidance and architecture for estimation and controls across programs. Mentors junior engineers. GNC Engineer V 8+ years and proven leadership in GNC for robotics or autonomous systems. Master's degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Controls, Robotics, or Localization or related field. Sets technical strategy and best practices for controls and guidance across teams. Serves as a go-to expert for estimation theory, robust controls, and real-world tuning. Leads major projects and contributes to proposal strategy and R&D direction. Requirements Required: Bachelor's degree required for Level I; Master's degree required for Levels II-V. Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and C/C++. Strong foundation in state estimation, PID tuning, and system modeling. Familiarity with or willingness to learn: state space control, localization, and advanced control methods. Experience or strong interest in writing technical papers and proposals. Willingness to travel for field testing and tuning (up to 10-15%). Preferred: Familiarity with VCUs and embedded implementation. Experience in field testing autonomous or robotic vehicles. Thesis-based research or hands-on experience in estimation theory or control system design. Familiarity with state-of-the-art controllers and advanced control strategies. Previous experience writing or contributing to technical proposals.
