Title: Generative AI Engineer
Reports to: Senior Director of Operations
Location: Remote - United States, Sterling Locations
Job Description: Sterling is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Generative AI Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge machine learning solutions. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, is excited by the prospect of working near the cutting edge of AI/ML, and possesses the ability to rapidly take prototypes to production. You will be instrumental in building and maintaining our agentic workflows and RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) systems, driving significant impact across our products and services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy robust and scalable machine learning models and systems.
- Implement and maintain agentic workflows and RAG systems to enhance our AI capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, product managers, and software engineers, to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Utilize your Python programming expertise to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Conduct solutioning sessions to identify optimal approaches for complex ML challenges.
- Work within an Agile Scrum framework, participating actively in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, and managing tasks in Jira.
- Develop and optimize data pipelines using your SQL proficiency to ensure data quality and availability for ML models.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot deployed ML models, ensuring their performance and reliability.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and relevant technologies, bringing excitement for innovation to the team.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our ML infrastructure and MLOps practices.
- We are open to candidates with a strong track record and ample experience in software engineering or data science looking to pivot into Generative AI engineering.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or a similar field. M.S. or Ph.D. preferred but not required.
- Proven Python programming expertise with a strong understanding of software development best practices.
- Strong emphasis on server-side development skills for building and deploying scalable ML applications and services.
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
- Experience with Agile Scrum methodologies and familiarity with Jira for project management.
- Ability to rapidly solution and take prototypes to production.
- Curious and imaginative mindset, eager to explore new ideas and innovative solutions and live near the cutting edge of the field.
- Linux development.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in implementing and maintaining agentic workflows and RAG systems, using platforms such as PydanticAI or LangChain.
- Some exposure to the Databricks platform for big data processing and machine learning workflows.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure) and MLOps tools.
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Knowledge of distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
- Full-stack development experience or some UI experience is a plus.
