Job Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Pipeline Engineer to join a leading energy utility provider, supporting natural gas distribution projects from one of two Michigan hubs: Detroit or Grand Rapids. This role offers the opportunity to lead critical infrastructure initiatives, applying deep technical expertise to system planning, hydraulic modeling, and regulator station design. The position is initially contract-based with strong potential for permanent hire.
Responsibilities Manage and lead the planning and execution of complex engineering assignments within the gas distribution network
Conduct technical studies and develop engineering models, analyses, and system improvement recommendations
Design and oversee natural gas regulator and overpressure protection systems
Utilize Synergi Gas modeling software to evaluate system hydraulics and performance
Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver project milestones, provide updates, and support key stakeholders
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of engineering best practices
Identify and implement process improvements within assigned projects or teams
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
Minimum of 4–6 years of related experience in utility, pipeline, or gas distribution engineering
Experience with federal regulations related to Part 192 gas distribution work
Proficiency with Synergi Gas modeling software
Engineering experience in regulator station design or natural gas distribution planning
