Job Description: DEPARTMENT/TEAM DESCRIPTION Team 1: The Field Activities squad specializes in building digital solutions that empower our farmers, scientist and partners with the tooling they need to answer questions about the places the do work or things they observe.
This squad's product portfolio is vast and includes mission objectives relating to planning activities, staging chemical sprays, and brokering experimental observations.
We serve both internal employees and external farmers with tools to capture in-season insights.
Team 2: The Protocol & Experiment Planning squad owns capabilities that enable scientists, breeders, and other planners from across the client to define their protocol plans in a central enterprise source of truth, allowing for centralized capacity planning and to orchestrate downstream execution steps, like data collection, sampling, and experimental data analysis.
The squad currently has a heavy focus on enhancing and launching its apps to the Protection teams within that are responsible for testing new chemical formulations in the field
Team 3: The Material Creation Planning squad owns the capabilities for material creation through breeding and laboratory processed.
Breeders and Scientists from across define the rules and logic our centralized systems to create the next generation of seed material in order for inventory and physical entities to become realized in our data systems.
The squad is currently working to build a new application heavily tied to laboratory processes and backend data orchestration for physical plant creation.
POSITION SUMMARY- This posting is for a Full-Stack Software Engineer in the Product Platforms organization.
In this role, the engineer will participate in all aspects of requirements gathering, design, development, and support of software products supporting the client -- true cradle-to-grave ownership.
Teams in our organization use Agile development methodologies.
Responsibilities include: Direct interaction with business users and other technical teams
Collaboration with Product Management on product backlogs and raodmaps
Cradle-to-grave ownership of software products
Ownership of applications, supporting AWS infrastructure, test automation, and CI/CD pipelines
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to define and design new features, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Development: Build and maintain software applications using a range of technologies, focusing on performance and scalability.
Code Review: Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and promote best practices among team members.
Support: Provide support for application issues, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
Agile Participation: Engage actively in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Architecture Contribution: Assist in the design and architecture of systems, ensuring they meet current and future business needs.
Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for code and processes.
REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
Education Requirement(s): Computer Science or related degree preferred
Skill & Competency Requirements: 3+ years of experience in full-stack software development for mid-level positions; 5+ years for expert-level positions.
Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks, including UI development in React and API development.
Familiarity with building APIs and microservices.
Knowledge of cloud services, with AWS preferred, and experience with cloud-based architectures.
Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in agile teams.
Preferences: Experience in the agriculture or crop science industry.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer).
