Overview
: NetImpact Strategies is seeking an IMS Software Engineer to support the modernization and maintenance of the Index Management System (IMS). This role focuses on web application development, system integration, data transformation, and biomedical indexing workflows. Key Responsibilities Redesign the MEDLINE workflow and replace XML-based exchanges with RESTful APIs to improve scalability and interoperability. Develop modern user interfaces and retire outdated components to support indexing and citation management. Maintain and enhance IMS performance, quality assurance tools, and operational reliability. Build and optimize database-driven web applications using Angular, Bootstrap, and JavaScript on Apache servers. Implement W3C standards (XML, XPath, XSL, Schema) in data processing and transformation. Support Python/Django backend integration with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases. Ensure Section 508 accessibility compliance and manage source control via Git, Stash, and JIRA. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
Proficiency in full-stack development with Python/Django, Angular, HTML5/CSS, and JavaScript.
Strong knowledge of relational databases, web servers, and W3C XML standards.
Experience in biomedical or bibliographic data systems, including indexing workflows and MeSH terminology.
Skilled in accessibility standards, version control, and cloud readiness best practices.
