Our client is a mission-driven, venture-backed fintech platform that allows individuals to invest in startups and small businesses - think of it as "Robinhood for Startups." With nearly $1B in total investments facilitated and a passionate user base, the company operates as a Public Benefit Corporation committed to democratizing access to early-stage investing.
You'll join a tight-knit team (35 people total) where engineers have outsized impact, little red tape, and full ownership over projects. This is a rare opportunity to shape a product that's changing the way capitalism works.
What You Will Do
Build and ship full stack features that support compliance, transactions, and user analytics
Work across a modern tech stack (React, Rails, Postgres) to develop performant, user-friendly experiences
Own projects end-to-end in a fast-moving, highly autonomous environment
Contribute to infrastructure that has supported over 1 million transactions and counting
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate closely with product, design, and leadership
Work on meaningful tools that support startup founders and everyday investors alike
Ideal Candidate Background
0-6 years of full stack development experience (non-Big Tech backgrounds preferred unless clear reason for leaving)
Strong experience in Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks (Django, Node, etc.)
Proficiency in JavaScript, CSS, and a modern frontend framework like React
SQL/database knowledge (ideally Postgres)
Exceptional problem-solving ability and attention to detail
Excellent learner: able to pick up new technologies quickly
Clear communication skills and comfort working in high-autonomy environments
Experience scaling systems handling high volumes of transactions or data
Passion for fintech, investing, startups, or mission-driven work
Preferred
Prior experience with compliance, security, payments, or investment platforms
Track record as a former founder or entrepreneurial builder
Interest in mentoring and helping to grow engineering talent
Top-tier academic background or demonstrated equivalent aptitude
Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary: $160,000 - $250,000 depending on experience
Equity: Competitive equity package available
