Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Freelance A1 (Lead Audio Engineer) to join our production team. This role is primarily for weekend events but may also include occasional weekday work. The ideal candidate will be skilled in mixing live events, managing audio setups, troubleshooting under pressure, and delivering exceptional sound quality for a variety of event types.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the lead audio engineer (A1) for live events Set up, operate, and strike audio systems (consoles, wireless mics, monitors, PA systems) Mix FOH and/or broadcast audio for live performances, DJs, and speaking engagements Coordinate with A2s, stagehands, and other crew to ensure smooth audio operations Conduct sound checks with performers, presenters, and talent Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively Maintain a professional demeanor while working directly with clients and talent

Qualifications

3+ years of professional live audio engineering experience Proficiency with digital audio consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Allen & Heath, etc.) Strong understanding of signal flow, RF coordination, and audio system design Ability to adapt to various event formats and environments Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Reliable transportation and punctuality are a must Ability to work weekends and some weekdays as needed
