COTSWORKS is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to support our growing Mil/Aero market with in-house designed and manufactured optoelectronic products and solutions.
The Field Applications Engineer supports the sale and integration of COTSWORKS Opto-Electronic, Optical, and Interconnect product platforms. This role acts as a liaison between COTSWORKS and its customers, focusing on engineering and operations where integration or advanced support is required. The individual works independently and with teams across Inside Sales, Product Marketing, and Engineering, exercising sound judgment and discretion to address customer needs. This is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Director of Inside Sales. Due to classified work and access restrictions, applicants must be U.S. citizens (no Green Card or Visa).
COTSWORKS, INC. designs and manufactures rugged optical components and subsystems for harsh environments. Our products are used worldwide in commercial and military aerospace, tactical, oil and gas, and industrial markets. Our state-of-the-art facility produces over 100,000 mission-critical rugged optoelectronic and interconnect products annually. We maintain ISO 9100:2015 + AS9100D certification and ATEX compliance.
Your responsibilities may include:
Providing technical support to address customer questions related to COTSWORKS products.
Meeting with sales and customers to understand needs and provide pre- and post-sales technical support.
Traveling to visit customers and provide on-site support.
Documenting customer contacts, projects, and status reports for the sales team.
Managing PCNs, RMAs, and supporting documentation, and maintaining datasheets, MRDs, and project plans.
Translating ideas into drawings, BOMs, and customer-facing materials.
Acting as a liaison among sales, purchasing, marketing, engineering, and customers.
Assisting in manufacturing small parts as needed.
Participating in trade shows and standards meetings to promote COTSWORKS products.
Qualifications include:
Bachelors degree in engineering or technical sales and at least 3 years of manufacturing or business experience.
Experience with optical transceivers, networking protocols, and optical parameters.
Proficiency with engineering tools (CAD, SolidWorks, Altium) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
High technical product knowledge and willingness to learn about COTSWORKS products.
High integrity and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%+.
