What's the role?
As a Field Applications Engineer, you'll partner with our customers and the ZEISS sales team to provide both pre-sales and post-sales support. This includes delivering product demonstrations, offering technical consultation, and ensuring customers can effectively use our hardware and software solutions.
Your work will involve a mix of activities - from formal and custom training sessions to on-site and remote support, as well as programming and measurement services. This is a consultative, customer-facing role that requires professionalism, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.

Here's what you'll do: Provide technical consultation to field sales teams and the Industrial Metrology (IM) dealer network on advanced applications and systems
Ensure accurate technical information is shared with the sales force
Focus on advanced applications and introduce new ZEISS technologies to the North American market
Deliver technical training to sales teams and dealer partners
Plan, prepare, and conduct high-quality customer demonstrations (in-house and on-site)
Provide after-sales technical support to help customers successfully use ZEISS systems
Deliver customer training as needed to support Applications Engineering staff
Support all Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology systems and respond to software/application inquiries
Assist with software and system testing for product development; document performance reports
Contribute applications expertise to projects, including analyzing inspection needs and quoting part programming costs
Estimate Gage R&R results and implement quoted application items on-site
Support IT-related issues, including Windows OS, networking, and database management
Apply knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Perform other duties as required
Do you qualify? A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics (or equivalent work experience)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Strong technical writing skills for clear, concise reports
Knowledge of 3D mathematics and programming in modern scientific languages
Excellent verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to audiences of all sizes
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently from problem to solution
Ability to learn on your own and find creative solutions to customer measurement challenges
Self-motivation and comfort working independently
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and related software tool
Compensation:
Annual pay range: $66,000 - $83,000
Working Environment: Meet required qualifications to work with ITAR designated data.
Ability to lift 50lbs from floor to table height.
Ability to work flexible hours (nights and weekends).
Must be a team player across the organization.
Possession of a valid driver's license
