EWIS Electrical Engineer

New Today

Key Responsibilities:
Design Production Systems:
Develop a production system concept for wire harness installations in aircraft assembly, focusing on the integration of supplier-fabricated structural assemblies.
Collaborate with Suppliers:
Work closely with external suppliers to explore opportunities for pre-installing harness components, such as standoffs and supports, during the fabrication process.
Process Optimization:
Establish and document streamlined processes, guidelines, and standards to improve the efficiency, safety, and ease of harness installation, identifying preferred components and methods.
Damage Mitigation and Repair:
Anticipate potential damage to wire harnesses during production and develop strategies for damage prevention and repair procedures to maintain integrity and safety.
Adapt to High-Rate Production:
Plan for future production rate increases by assessing how systems need to evolve to support higher volumes over time.
Support Certification Efforts:
Create necessary documentation and guidelines to support FAA certification processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reduce costs, and increase production efficiency within the EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnection System) process.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience:
5-7 years of experience in EWIS design, installation, and manufacturing within the aerospace industry.
Experience with FAA certification requirements and processes.
Proven experience in designing and optimizing production systems, particularly for wire harness installation.
Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with thermoset carbon fiber prepreg materials and the integration of electrical components into composite structures.
Knowledge of wire harness installation and aerospace manufacturing standards.
Familiarity with the design and installation of expanded copper foil layers and surfacing films on OML (Outer Mold Line) surfaces.
Skills:
Excellent problem-solving skills, able to anticipate issues and develop solutions.
Strong communication skills for collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
Detail-oriented with a focus on compliance and process documentation. Preferred Skills:
Experience managing projects across multiple phases of aircraft development (prototype, certification, production).
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
