Job Summary
: Environmental Specialist/Engineer is responsible for water/wastewater programs (drinking water, water treatment, sewage conveyance, industrial wastewater and applicable permits), hazardous/universal waste programs and supervision of hourly staff.
Responsibilities
Ensure water/wastewater systems are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and standards.
Operate and monitor water/wastewater treatment facilities.
Manage hazardous/universal waste program.
Supervise hourly workforce.
Oversee contractor activities in support of disposal criteria.
Schedule activities to meet mandated deadlines.
Support/lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
One to five years of experience in environmental field with knowledge of water/wastewater, laboratory analysis techniques, backflow prevention, RCRA, DOT and hazardous waste, or
Class One West Virginia Domestic Water Certification.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science related discipline from an ABET-accredited program a plus
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, required

Ability to adapt to a new environment, required
Effective communication (both written and verbal) with the ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences, preferred
Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, preferred
Dimensions
will be part of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Department providing support services to the Ravenswood, West Virginia facility of Constellium Rolled Products Ravenswood, LLC. The position reports to the Environmental Manager and is responsible for day-to-day operations of the water, wastewater and hazardous materials programs, as well as supervising five hourly staff. The applicant will be required to plan accordingly to meet regulatory reporting deadlines (daily, weekly, monthly and annually) and also respond timely to unplanned requests.
The position will provide input to the Environmental Manager in terms of budgeting water, wastewater and other operations. Initially, the impact of these decisions will be limited; however, with increased experience will come increased responsibility. The main initial focus will be regulatory interactions.
The Environmental Specialist/Engineer will be required to monitor and submit information to Ravenswood Management and regulatory agencies on a routine basis. This communication, dictated by permit requirements, certifications and providing information to facility staff, will be in written and verbal form.
The challenge of this position is learning the water, wastewater and hazardous waste processes and then working to continuously improve the operation in these areas. The biggest challenges for the Environmental Specialist/Engineer are learning the plant processes, developing relationships with key individuals, gaining trust/respect from hourly staff and determining the future requirements/direction of the position with the goal of ultimately becoming a integral part of the Environmental Group and influencing the its direction.
