Environmental Engineer INEOS Olefins and Polymers USA Job Title: Environmental Engineer Salary: $122,229 - $152,787, commensurate with experience Location: Chocolate Bayou Works – Alvin, TX Organizational Context and Job Purpose The Olefins & Polymers USA division of INEOS is one of the largest producers of olefins and polyolefins in North America, with manufacturing locations at Chocolate Bayou and the Battleground Manufacturing Complex. It is a merchant marketer of butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene, and high-density polyethylene, generating over $4 billion in annual revenue. The Chocolate Bayou Site, located in Southeastern Texas about 40 miles south of Houston, comprises two Olefins units producing approximately 4.0 billion pounds/year of ethylene, two Polypropylene units producing approximately 1.0 billion pounds/year of polypropylene, and Light Ends storage & transfer facilities at Stratton Ridge. We are seeking an Environmental Engineer responsible for regulatory compliance at the CBW facility. The role involves managing and improving site air compliance and permitting programs, providing regulatory guidance, and fostering an environmental excellence culture. Responsibilities and Accountabilities Adherence to INEOS 20 Principles: Champion and apply these principles to SHE goals and work processes. Primary Responsibility - Air Regulatory Topics: Develop and implement environmental systems to ensure compliance with EPA and TCEQ permits, provide guidance for environmental considerations in project planning, participate in audits, and network with other sites for best practices. Permit Applications and Agency Interactions: Prepare and amend permits, respond to agency inquiries, investigate permit excursions, and support audits. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all TCEQ and EPA regulations, including reporting on Title V, emissions, fugitive emissions, stack testing, and maintain environmental management systems. Skills & Knowledge Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical discipline; advanced degrees considered based on experience. Experience Minimum 7+ years in-plant experience in permitting, compliance, and reporting, preferably in petrochemical or refinery industries. Preferred Qualifications Experience in Olefins and/or Polymers manufacturing is beneficial. Key Skills & Knowledge Understanding of chemical process design related to emissions, strong math skills for calculations, problem-solving initiative, proficiency in computer applications, effective communication, interpersonal skills, and self-motivation.
