JOB SUMMARY: The Engineering Intern, Research and Development is a member of the engineering department, supporting Research & Development (R&D) teams. Responsibilities include testing, report writing, laboratory maintenance and safety, and will support new product development. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform all work in compliance with the company policy and within the guidelines of New World Medical Inc.’s Quality System. Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, good clinical practice and FDA regulations. Under the guidance of the R&D team, the intern will perform various tasks supporting current projects under development. Run 3D printers and post-process parts to support engineering prototypes. Help organize and execute test protocols under the direction of R&D engineers. Manage a short-term engineering project including investigation of requirements, writing test protocols, execution of validation activities and writing the final report. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Team Player Capacity to communicate in an open and authentic manner in all situations Extremely organized Capable of managing several projects simultaneously Ability to use MS-Office software Outlook, Excel, Word) and Adobe PDF effectively 3D modeling skills (preferably SolidWorks) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Junior or senior status in an engineering major Minimal experience in a laboratory environment Familiarity with general chemistry laboratory techniques and equipment, and the operation of basic analytical instrumentation. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least % of the time. Must be able to stand for long periods of time in clinical settings. Occasionally move about inside the office and travel to and from office buildings to access file cabinets, employee offices, office machinery, etc. This may include, but is not limited to, bending and walking. Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer printer, computer keyboard, calculator, etc. Ability to listen and speak with employees and vendors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Occasionally lift up to pounds and transport to other offices. This may be performed with reasonable accommodation. View and type on computer screens for long periods of time. Must be able to read and manually conduct inspection processes and procedures with provided tools.
