Northrop Grumman Space SystemsLaunch and Missile Defense Systems provides an excellent opportunity for an Engineer Systems System Integration Engineer (25-310) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, based at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a crucial role in supporting the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It is a key operational system that enables the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control designated networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC provides a layered missile defense capability that offers an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a crucial part of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of the missile defense system.
The System Integration Engineer requires at least Administrator-level knowledge, but does not perform typical Administrator tasks. Integrate C2BMC software into the C2BMC test suites at the MDIOC, mainly on virtual servers, and support System Test events by operating C2BMC suites. Operate and troubleshoot C2BMC systems during test events and integration activities. Work with external personnel to resolve test lab issues. Work with C2BMC Operations and Sustainment, as well as Level II/III support personnel, to resolve installation and processing issues.
Essential Functions:
Create and modify scripts to extract specific information from log files
Perform data analysis of input, internal, and output message data
Troubleshoot both test and operational issues
Document test results and prepare test status reports
Read test plan documents and procedures
Create Test Discrepancy reports to document issues
Assist software development personnel with investigating and resolving problems
Develop troubleshooting procedures and work-around documents
Develop and execute detailed test plans and procedures to test C2BMC in an integrated environment or to evaluate specific capabilities
Participate in integration of C2BMC tests with external components and sensors
Review and provide feedback on system specifications, development, testing, and network documents as needed
Attend meetings with other C2BMC FAs, customers, and relevant stakeholders
The position is based in Colorado Springs at the MDIOC, but may require multi-week travel to customer sites (e.g., EUCOM, CENTCOM) and contractor locations (e.g., Huntsville, HWY83)
At least 1 year of experience in system or network administration, with an Associate's degree and/or relevant IT certifications, may be considered
Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in STEM Computer Science, Information Technology, System Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 2 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a STEM-related field with 0 years of relevant work experience
Applicants must possess a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
A DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.) is required to start
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs are required
Knowledge of administration in at least one of these three domains: Networking, Linux, Windows
The desire to conduct complex troubleshooting by analyzing proprietary application logs, firewall policies, and interface documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
Certificate: Completion of Systems Engineering Graduate Certificate Program (Ex, UCSD, Stevens University, MIT, Caltech)
Certification: INCOSE Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) Certification
Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model User (OCSMP - MU)
Current and active Top Secret DoD-issued clearance is highly desired
The ideal applicant should have either knowledge of or practical experience with industry or DoD test methodologies and terminology
Experience with operational systems (e.g., Aegis, Patriot), development systems (e.g., GMD, THAAD, Aegis), and off-the-shelf statistical analysis software is a plus
The integration of system components within a unified test environment
Practical understanding of system design and its integration into an operational setting
High proficiency with networking (Junos a plus), VMware, virtual servers, Linux, including shell scripting
Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux systems
Proficient in developing test plans, procedures, and executing tests
Knowledge of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense System, including sensors, shooters, command and control systems, and networks, is a plus
Prior integration and testing experience within the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program is a plus
Experience with Agile Methods, along with Capability and Feature definition, is a plus

Primary Level Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00
