Our products are critical to many commercial and military applications. We have an opportunity in our Materials and Process Lab for an Engineering Chemist at our Cheshire, CT facility. Materials and Processes is a service group and a Center of Excellence for Collins Aerospace, Mission Systems and as such requires interaction with the various internal customers, other Collins facilities (for whom we regularly perform failure analyses), customers and suppliers. Summary reports, test results and conclusions for root cause corrective actions are commonly written and presented following failure analysis, material or process changes, and material substitutions. What You Will Do Perform analytical testing including wet chemistry, GC/MS, FTIR, DSC, DMA, micro-sectioning, microstructural identification, SEM/EDS, XRF, XRay, tensile and compression testing, digital imaging microscopy, and micro-hardness testing to support failure analyses and root cause investigations Support qualification/validation efforts for material and/or supplier obsolescence. Support product design and performance involving daily production of numerous product lines Work with Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering to solve manufacturing issues from suppliers through customers Apply product/process design knowledge to troubleshooting and RCCA endeavors. The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
