Storage Quality Control Engineer – [Remote/Travel On Site]
Clean Energy Associates (CEA), a part of Intertek, is a fast-growing company in an exciting industry. CEA has supported clients globally in deploying solar and storage solutions and successfully helped clients mitigate project risks by providing quality assurance (QA) services including factory audits, in-line production monitoring, and pre-shipment inspections.
The BESS QCE position is focused on executing quality assurance projects for battery energy storage systems, providing technical consulting, and developing storage project execution team.
What you’ll do:
Execute QA projects (e.g., Factory Audits (FAs), Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), In-Process Monitoring (IPM), Pre-Shipment Inspections (PSI)) for battery cells, modules, racking, and container factories to improve and acquire skills, and propose enhancements to CEA’s ESS QA services.
Work with Project Operations and Account Management teams to implement improvements in QA checklists, reports, and other deliverables.
Travel to client sites and perform systems audits, inspections, and commissioning on energy storage systems and components.
Analyze test data and assist in report generation.
Participate in inspections to ensure safe and proper testing and data management.
Use and maintain test devices and tools.
Assist in coordination with client representatives and other onsite personnel for quality control audits.
This position will travel approximately 80% of the time.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
B.S. in engineering or physics (4-year engineering/science degree); Associate College degree acceptable with relevant experience.
At least 3+ years of experience in the lithium-ion battery industry, familiar with lithium-ion battery manufacturing processes.
Knowledge and experience in quality control for lithium-ion battery production is desirable. Related transferable industry knowledge and skills are a must.
Good communication skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), diligent record-keeping, proficient in Microsoft Office and computer skills.
Ability to execute quality assurance projects (FA, IPM, PSI, FAT) on lithium-ion battery storage systems independently.
An understanding of the components and operation of energy storage modules and systems.
This is a remote position; however, applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in the United States.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
Experience in energy storage testing/inspection, O&M, or electrical experience with utility-scale energy storage systems preferred.
Experience with relevant testing tools such as curve tracing, insulation testing, infrared scanning, visual inspection, multimeter use, and safety practices while conducting inspections and/or commissioning work.
Experience in interpreting test images and data traces and/or testing energy storage modules and cells is a plus.
NABCEP certification preferred.
OSHA 10/30 certification, fall protection training, and training in arc-flash, lock-out/tag-out, and other special protective equipment and procedures desirable.
Ability to work outdoors in harsh conditions, including but not limited to desert areas, winter conditions, nighttime work, long hours standing, climbing stairs and ladders.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required (including but not limited to steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron, and arm guards).
