ICF is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated candidate to help federal government clients implement and evolve their manufacturing, energy efficiency, and technology programs. This position will be based in our Reston, VA headquarters office and may require periodic travel. Successful candidates will support the implementation of U.S. government energy research, development, and deployment (RD&D) programs focused on advancing manufacturing technologies.
What you will be doing:
Providing technical assistance on a variety of topics including:
Evaluating possible energy or water savings.
Evaluating technical and commercial project viability.
Conducting technical, energy, environmental, and economic benefits analyses.
Performing market and technology assessments.
Providing financing and innovation assessments.
Supporting all phases of U.S. government program or project management, from project inception to closeout.
Synthesizing and analyzing data and models related to energy technologies and trends.
Synthesizing and analyzing technology R&D project and program information.
Developing technical communications (reports, white papers, fact sheets, research summaries, briefings)
Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing technical reports and assessments.
Conducting internet and literature research.
Engaging and communicating with internal and external program stakeholder groups, including understanding stakeholder group needs, priorities, and issues.
Conducting research and analysis of energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, and decarbonization programs and policies.
Minimum qualifications:
Master’s degree in mechanical, materials, chemical, or other relevant engineering discipline.
4+ years of relevant technical expertise in one or more of the following industries/sectors:
Project and construction monitoring experience.
Project financial deals for methane detection / emissions monitoring; sustainable aviation fuels; and/or gasification / carbon capture.
Utility deals for solar; transmission; battery energy storage system (BESS); virtual power plants (VPP); hydro; nuclear; geothermal; gas pipeline.
Preferred qualifications:
5 to 8+ years of relevant technical expertise in one or more of the following industries/sectors:
Project and construction monitoring experience.
Project financial deals for methane detection / emissions monitoring; sustainable aviation fuels; and/or gasification / carbon capture.
Utility deals for solar; transmission; battery energy storage system (BESS); virtual power plants (VPP); hydro; nuclear; geothermal; gas pipeline.
Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
Proficiency in core computer skills, including key Microsoft applications such as Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and OneNote).
Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
Team player with strong ability to work collaboratively with others.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines.
Demonstrated interest and/or experience in climate- and sustainability-related areas.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Highly organized, proactive, and self-motivated approach to work.

Excellent project and program management skills.
Demonstrated experience in energy analysis or consulting.

Experience with client-facing consulting roles.
High level of self-motivation and interest in support of U.S. government energy programs.
