The Walnut Creek, San Francisco, or Seattle offices of Kilpatrick Townsend are seeking a full-time, entry-level Patent Engineer to join the Electronics & Software Patent Prosecution team. A Patent Engineer helps prepare patent applications for inventions and responses to Office Actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and foreign patent offices. This role is suitable for individuals interested in learning about various inventions and who enjoy reading and writing. Patent engineers work towards certification as Patent Agents licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Starting salaries are competitive, and remote work is permitted for part of the week.

The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate or scheduled to graduate in 2022 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics. Other degrees will be considered if the candidate has completed a reasonable number of programming courses with good grades. A strong mathematics background is essential. A minimum GPA of 3.0, along with excellent oral and written communication skills, is required.
