We are seeking a highly skilled Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role is key in driving the development of new product solutions, optimizing production processes, using your engineering skills, experience, and creative ability. The successful candidate will also have a strong understanding of product manufacturability while managing project goals and budget considerations. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate Across Teams: Work with cross-functional teams, including engineering, R&D, customer technical support, and production, to execute initiatives and drive product development.
Product Design & Optimization: Lead product design, process optimization, and the development of cost-saving measures and quality control initiatives.
Manufacturing Expertise: Understand and apply machine capabilities, machining principles, material characteristics, and tolerances (including tolerance stack-up analysis).
Hands-on experience with metalworking and production machines is essential.
Technology Development: Lead the development of technology-based products and support Mercotac’s manufacturing lines. This includes project management, documentation, and test development.
Subject Matter Expert (SME): Provide technical expertise to a team of engineers, assemblers, and machinists to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.
Research & Innovation: Conduct research on new technologies and stay current on client applications to maintain Mercotac’s competitive edge.
Process Development: Participate in defining solution approaches, engineering problems, and process improvements.
Financial & Operational Efficiency: Collaborate with management to optimize departmental budgets and maximize ROI. Provide project updates and review proposed engineering designs.
Support Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the incremental development of existing products and support manufacturing and sales efforts.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a technology-based product development environment, with substantial machinery experience supporting part design success.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of manufacturing efficiencies, FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly), and proficient in 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks).
Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and communicate complex ideas clearly.
Financial Acumen: Solid understanding of financials, production costs, and ROI (Return on Investment), with an emphasis on optimizing manufacturing efficiencies to drive profitability and cost-effective operations.
Process Improvement: Skilled in sustaining continuous improvement efforts and driving a culture of change.
Vendor selection: Experience in sourcing suppliers for new product lines.
