Responsibilities:
- Create initial drawing packages for the estimating department at the proposal phase.
- Design, maintain, implement, and improve electrical instruments, components, and equipment, specifically for industrial, commercial, and domestic electrical power systems.
- Lead engineering and project management efforts on assigned projects, coordinating individual engineering disciplines to achieve cost-effective solutions.
- Develop and build strong client relations.
- Develop electrical documents for scope of work definition, specifications, data sheets, equipment selection, drawing review, schematic development, wiring diagrams, physical layout drawings, and project close-out procedures for low to medium voltage industrial power distribution systems.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for various electrical equipment.
- Lead inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for various relay panels, Power Distribution Centers, and remote instrumentation enclosure Buildings.
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of pertinent codes, governing regulations, and industry practices.
- Review estimates to confirm the technical offerings of the product.
- Create engineering drawings and shop packages using Metal Building Software (MBS) for pre-engineered metal buildings per client specifications.
- Maintain company's CAD standards and templates for Metal Building Software (MBS).
- Learn and implement building structures and client-specific equipment needs and their usage.
- Learn and implement building design from client-specific standards and proven methods.
- Learn wire sizing and design from client-specific standards and NEC.
- Read and analyze existing blueprints, construction drawings, and plans.
- Routinely produce accurate drawings promptly and efficiently.
Complete CAD drawings independently in a timely manner. - Learn construction and design methods and best practices.
- Evaluate the design for constructability and ease of manufacturing.
- Estimate material usage and create a bill of materials for procurement.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering degree required.
Practical Experience
- Five or more years of experience in electrical design and engineering required.
- Five or more years of experience in managing project managers and junior engineers required.
- Two-plus years of experience drafting structural components (especially related to electrical equipment/systems) in a manufacturing environment required.
- Two years of experience in Metal Building Software (MBS) required.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite required.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and layouts required.
- Five or more years of experience in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Substation Design Suite (SDS) required.
- Five or more years in product knowledge of key electrical components of a Protection & Control Panel (e.g., SEL, Electroswitch, test switches) required.
- Analytical abilities and strong problem-solving skills required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, required.
- Growth mindset with the ability to accept challenges required.
- Ability to work autonomously without direct supervision required.
