Job Summary
We’re looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Electrical Engineer who’s excited to take on real-world automation and control challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position will include designing, developing, testing, and supervising the manufacture, installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of industrial automation equipment. The candidate will support process optimization efforts throughout the facility. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience troubleshooting technical issues related to industrial and manufacturing equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of safety policies and standards that are applicable for industrial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Design & Maintenance
Design and develop electrical systems for manufacturing equipment, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and control panel layouts.
Ensure electrical systems comply with industry regulations and safety standards (UL, NEC, CE, IEC).
Specify and integrate electrical components, such as motors, drives, sensors, and control systems, to improve manufacturing processes.
Oversee preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems to minimize downtime.
Automation & Control Systems
Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi) and HMIs for production equipment.
Work with industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet) to enhance data acquisition and system control.
Support robotics, machine vision systems, and motion control technologies to optimize manufacturing processes.
Testing & Quality Assurance
Conduct system testing and validation to ensure electrical components function safely and efficiently.
Identify areas for design improvement and implement solutions to enhance equipment reliability.
Work with the maintenance and production teams to diagnose and resolve electrical and automation issues.
Collaboration & Documentation
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics, component lists, and maintenance procedures.
Provide technical training and support to operators and maintenance personnel.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency and automation strategies.
Travel Requirement
Travel up to 25% for vendor coordination, equipment installation, troubleshooting, and support at different manufacturing facilities or supplier locations.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in electrical engineering within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial control systems.
Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.
Familiarity with motor controls, servo systems, and industrial sensors.
Hands-on troubleshooting experience with electrical and automation systems.
Understanding of electrical safety standards and compliance.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
Experience with robotics.
Knowledge of machine vision systems.
Proficiency in Java, .NET (C#), Python, or C++ for automation-related applications and system interfaces.
Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
Ability to stand, walk, and work on the production floor for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
Ability to work in environments with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Dexterity to handle small components and wiring during electrical assembly and troubleshooting.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
