About the Role:
We are seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer (P.E.) with strong experience in the design, permitting, and project management of distributed energy systems, including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), natural gas and diesel generators . This position plays a critical role in ensuring the technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and successful execution of commercial and industrial energy projects throughout Southern California and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering
Perform system design, layout, and electrical engineering for solar PV, BESS, and backup power (diesel/natural gas generators)
Develop single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, grounding, conduit and cable schedules, interconnection drawings, and load studies
Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL, Title 24, California Energy Commission, and utility interconnection standards
Permitting & Compliance
Prepare and submit permit packages for AHJs, utilities, and environmental agencies
Respond to permit review comments and coordinate revisions as needed
Support utility interconnection applications and navigate permitting pathways (e.g., LADWP, SCE, SDG&E)
Project Management
Oversee technical project execution from initial scoping through commissioning
Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, AHJs, and clients to meet project schedules and budgets
Conduct site assessments and support construction teams with RFIs and change orders
Manage third-party engineering reviews, peer reviews, and stamping requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Active California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license – Electrical
5+ years of experience in power system design, including commercial/industrial solar and generator installations
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVSyst, and SKM or ETAP
Strong understanding of codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL, CA Building Codes)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience with microgrids, CHP, or hybrid systems
Familiarity with AHJs and utilities in Southern California
PMP certification or formal project management training
Knowledge of incentive programs (SGIP, ITC, HR1-related incentives)
