Job Title: Electrical Engineer III
Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension)
Location: Houston, TX 77079 Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer III will manage electrical and control systems design for large-scale expansion and maintenance capital projects. This role involves overseeing third-party engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards, and coordinating cross-functional engineering requirements across teams. Responsibilities: Design oversight for high-horsepower turbine and motor-driven centrifugal compressor stations (10,000-30,000 HP). Ensure system compliance with NEC and other regulatory standards. Collaborate with internal teams and third-party engineering firms to execute projects on time and within budget. Review and approve design documents, drawings, and technical evaluations. Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases. Manage electrical scope for systems involving: Power Systems: 120V-4160V systems, switchgear, grounding, cathodic protection. Controls: Allen-Bradley PLCs, Wonderware interfaces, PID control, ESD systems. Instrumentation: Pressure/temperature transmitters, level gauges, flame/gas detectors.
Guide junior engineers and support internal department initiatives. Coordinate vendor selection based on technical merit, cost, and delivery. Ensure all deliverables meet safety, environmental, and corporate requirements. Report regularly to project managers and supervisors on cost, schedule, and risks.
Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Minimum 7 years of experience in engineering/project management, preferably in industrial or energy sectors. Strong understanding of NEC requirements and hazardous area classifications.
Preferred: PE (Professional Engineer) license. Experience with compressor station design and operations. Knowledge of large-scale power distribution and control systems. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
