Description As an Avionics Electrical Engineer , you will design, simulate, manufacture, and test custom circuit boards and other avionics devices. You will work directly with software engineers, propulsion engineers, GNC engineers, and others. You will have the opportunity to contribute to many aspects of spacecraft electronics development, including initial concepts, schematic/layout, design reviews, bench testing, and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Execute on schematics and layout for flight circuit boards
Perform analyses and simulations of avionics devices and systems
Bring up new circuit boards in the lab, performing rigorous bench testing of many aspects of electronics
Work with engineers from other departments to ensure devices work cross-functionally and are efficient at the system level
Own hardware through qualification and flight operations
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
2+ years experience designing electronics
Demonstrated experience doing schematics/layout for circuit boards
Proficiency with electronics component selection, basic circuit design, and basic circuit analysis
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting electronics problems at the board level or system level
Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns
Preferred Skills and Experience
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience designing products for a rocket, spacecraft, drone, car, boat, or other vehicle
Experience with Altium Designer
Experience doing new development work for any of the following: optics, star trackers, cameras, motors, reaction wheels, batteries, harnessing, ethernet switches, FPGAs, antennas, or any other specialized area relevant to spacecraft or rockets
Experience working with circuit board fabrication/assembly vendors
Experience in a startup or agile development environment

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options , and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan .
