Job Title: Electrical Controls Engineer

Job Summary
The electrical controls engineer will design and troubleshoot electrical control systems for our processing equipment. You will be required to analyze design requirements, generate schematic diagrams, create bills of material, develop PLC and HMI application software, and verify/validate designs through simulations and testing. Commissioning and troubleshooting of equipment on our shop floor and at customer facilities as required.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and configuration of new automation systems, upgrading older machinery to new control platforms and upgrading existing manufacturing lines in varied industries
Conduct customer requirement reviews addressing overall specifications, component selection, machine control layouts and programming PLC and HMI to meet customer specifications
Implement a complete software solution including PLC, HMI and other 3rd party devices programming from controls specifications and drawings
Perform software installation, I/O testing and debugging of PLC and HMI software
Participate in product and system design reviews, machine testing, installation and start-up
Design and develop electrical control systems that will interface with process manufacturing equipment and devices
Utilizing managed switches and Ethernet/IP topology
Confirms control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures
Designs and recommends the control system architecture, products, components, and applications used in manufacturing processes; identifies and resolves system integration and interface issues
Works with Fanuc and Siemens CNC machines, troubleshooting and programming Fanuc robots
Evaluates new and emerging manufacturing and control technologies, adapting into specifications as appropriate
Design, development, component selection, evaluation, and installation of machine controls hardware
Prepares and/or reviews electrical controls drawings; collaborates with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers
Provides information to manufacturing, process, and other engineering disciplines by answering questions and requests
Keeps equipment operating by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is self-motivated and prefers freedom over micromanagement
BS EE Degree or proven, equivalent electrical/electronic control experience
5 + years of experience with industrial electrical/machine control system design
At least 5 years of experience working in Controls Engineering positions in a manufacturing environment
Strong emphasis on automation
Experience in Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI programming and products
Possess both electrical and mechanical aptitude
Process Control equipment experience
Ability to work with other engineering and manufacturing personnel to resolve problems on the plant floor
Knowledge of VFDs and coordinated drive systems (AB Power Flex, Siemens SINAMICS, etc.)
Knowledge of motion control systems, including servo applications
Advanced knowledge of PLC programming
Knowledge of network and communication protocols, HMI systems, and AutoCAD
Works with Fanuc and Siemens CNC machines, troubleshooting and programming Fanuc robots.
Works with Keyence vision systems and their closed loop feedback into upstream equipment
Experience with NEC,UL, CE and CSA, Wonderware, web-handling, or PID temperature controls a big plus
Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to represent the company in a professional manner
Excellent problem solving and time management skills
Licenses or certifications such as: PMP, APICS, FPX, PMI, VLSS, CPM, NAPM, CIPM, AP, LEED a plus
Fluent in English
