SUMMARY
The control panel and integration design position will primarily be involved in the electrical, networking, integration, specification, design, manufacture, testing and startup/commissioning of DCS and PLC based control systems with a primary emphasis using Emerson Process Management DeltaV platforms. As part of an internal project team this role will interact with cross-functional groups to propose and assess integration requirements of equipment and processes and will include preparing and executing engineering documentation/design, testing, commissioning of control systems. Great opportunity for someone with PLC control panel experience (Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Honeywell, Siemens) who wants to make the move to Emerson DCS design.
RESPONSIBILITIES Design and review of automation/control system integration hardware, electrical designs, wireless designs, BUS technology designs, specifications, architectures and Bill Of Materials (BOM). Procurement, tracking, setup, fabrication, staging, testing and shipment of the system hardware and control enclosures. Development, review and execution of Hardware Factory Acceptance Test (HFAT) protocols. Construction Scope of Work: Assisting in the development and documentation of construction packages with expected growth to manage this activity with minimum to no supervision. Site support activities: Assisting in installation, commissioning, and startup activities with expected growth to manage this activity with minimum to no supervision. Sales support activities: Includes reviewing requests for proposal, identifying and estimating proposal scope and schedules as they relate to E&I activities. AutoCAD: A working knowledge of the use of AutoCAD a plus but not required. Control System Software: Able to read and modify control logic including physical layer (I/O details), continuous configuration (control module) a plus but not required. Participate in the maintenance and development of department standards for AutoCAD and automation design tool libraries.
REQUIREMENTS Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Control or Computer Engineering. 3+ years relevant experience in control system design and implementation. Prior experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry is preferred but not necessary. Working knowledge and ability to read and understand engineering documents including Functional Specifications, Design Specifications, P&ID’s and engineering guidelines and specifications. Industrial Wireless technology experience preferred but not necessary. BUS technology (AS-I, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, DeviceNet) experience preferred but not necessary. Communications protocol (Serial, Ethernet, Modbus) experience preferred but not necessary. Experience with Emerson Process Management control platforms and/or the Allen Bradley families of platforms and interfaces are preferred. Practical and troubleshooting skills preferred. Good interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to travel local required. Self-starter. The ability to interact with customers and work in a highly professional manner is a must.
