Job Title: EHS Engineer
Job Description
The EHS Engineer is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering a company-wide safety program while coordinating employee safety and health training programs. This role ensures environmental protection, worker safety, public safety, and regulatory compliance. The EHS Engineer will ensure that managers and employees apply workplace safety rules and procedures effectively, practice safe work practices, and comply with established company safety rules and occupational safety and health guidelines. This position involves developing and updating safety, health, or environmental training programs based on operational and organizational needs, creating an effective safety culture, and providing leadership in developing and implementing a Safety Management Program. Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to air, water, fuel storage, hazardous materials, and records maintenance. Develop and implement safety, health, or environmental training programs. Create and drive an effective safety culture in conjunction with management. Provide leadership in developing and implementing a Safety Management Program, including education, training, risk reduction, and auditing practices. Plan, develop, and implement policies and practices designed to improve safety awareness and compliance. Act as the primary contact for governmental agencies such as OSHA, MSHA, and Tier II for site visits, reporting, audits, and compliance requests. Develop and implement a Safety Loss Prevention program to reduce near misses, accidents, and other unsafe incidents. Organize, develop, and lead the plant Safety Committee in NC and GA operations. Perform regular safety, loss prevention, and training audits, enforcing safety regulations and making recommendations to correct or eliminate hazards. Conduct thorough investigations of accidents and employee safety, health, or environmental complaints, taking appropriate actions to resolve issues. Develop and revise departmental safety and health SOPs for continuous improvement. Maintain records necessary for accurate and timely report preparation and distribution. Collect, analyze, and disseminate safety, health, or environmental data to supervisors, managers, and employees. Identify OSHA, MSHA, and EPA at-risk conditions to plant management for abatement. Continuously build knowledge and skills, staying current with developments in the safety and loss prevention field, and sharing expertise with others. Essential Skills
Proficiency in safety, OSHA, health and safety, and environmental health practices. Ability to create and maintain a culture of safety and health at the facility. Management of safety, health, and environmental programs related to OSHA, MSHA, and Tier II compliance. Expertise in EHS, safety training, audit, compliance, and safety programs. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Three years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment. Preferred certifications: First Aid, CPR, OSHA, MSHA. Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge and skills. Work Environment
The work environment involves the use of various technologies and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations. The role requires interaction with governmental agencies, conducting audits, and leading safety committees. The dress code aligns with safety protocols, and the position may require travel between NC and GA operations. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $75000.00/yr. 730 -430 M-F Family Owned, 100 Years within the business Workplace Type
