The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Engineer to lead process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives within our high-volume Bethlehem, PA fulfillment center. The ideal candidate will leverage data-driven methodologies, lean principles, and advanced engineering techniques to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
You will also manage capital projects and network-level, multi-facility projects. You will be highly visible to all levels of the organization and lead and be a key contributor to some of the company's highest-value efforts. You will report to the Senior Manager of Process Engineering and Operational Excellence and frequently interact with many business functions, internal and external to the Bethlehem Site. Some travel is necessary and will fluctuate between 15 - 30%. We have a great team and look forward to you joining us!
Your Impact
- Process Optimization: Analyze and improve warehouse workflows, material handling systems, and labor utilization to maximize throughput and minimize waste.
- Data Analysis & Modeling: Use simulation tools, time studies, and statistical analysis to identify performance gaps and recommend solutions.
- Project Leadership: Lead cross-functional projects from concept through implementation, including layout redesigns, automation integration, and system upgrades.
- Performance Metrics: Develop and monitor KPIs to track productivity, quality, and cost performance. Provide actionable insights to operations leadership.
- Technology Integration: Evaluate and implement new technologies such as robotics, conveyor systems, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Standard Work & SOPs: Create and maintain standard operating procedures and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Training & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to operations staff on industrial engineering tools and techniques.
- Safety & Ergonomics: Collaborate with safety teams to design ergonomic workstations and ensure compliance with safety standards.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of industrial engineering experience.
- 3+ years in high-volume warehousing environment (distribution or fulfillment).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research or related discipline is required.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI) and simulation and modeling software (AutoCAD, FlexSim, etc.).
- Experience with WMS, ERP, and automation systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
- Maynard Operational Sequence Technique (MOST) Certified.
- Project Management Experience leading large-scale projects.
- Experience with robotics and automation in warehouse settings.
- Familiarity with labor management systems (LMS) and engineered labor standards.
