This is a highly responsible, professional administrative position assisting in directing the activities of the City's Engineering Department, and performs a variety of professional, technical and supervisory civil engineering functions. This position reports directly to the Director. Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Manages civil engineering projects including: negotiations, public relations, payment review, interpretation of engineering documents and schedule review. 2. Designs and prepares contract documents for civil projects including roads, water, sewer, storm drainage and structures. 3. Inspects civil projects including roads, water, sewer, storm drainage and structures. 4. Personnel management including interviews, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, counseling, training and motivation. 5. Assists in the administration of the Engineering Department including planning for personnel and equipment, workload allocation, budget review, paperwork, meeting, and City Council presentations. 6. Interfaces with pertinent Federal, State, Regional, County and Local Regulatory agencies to ensure full City compliance with all appropriate regulations. Ensures that all Administered Capital Improvement Projects obtain all required permitting in compliance with all Federal, State, Regional, County and Local Regulatory agencies. Enforces the City Code and Ordinances under the authority given to the City Engineer. 7. Plans civil capital projects including development of alternative plans and budgets for system-wide and local projects and presentation to Staff and Council. 8. Files field books and notes. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Four-year technical degree (i.e. bachelor's) in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, or related field, plus a minimum of 15 years of civil engineering or related experience, 10 years of experience as a registered professional engineer and 10 years of related management experience. REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Registration as a Professional Engineer in State of Florida. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Operators Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS MBA is preferred. An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience may be considered. RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT Must reside within 45 minutes of City Hall (110 SE Watula Avenue) using Map Quest.
