We are seeking a skilled Data Engineering Contractor to support both legacy systems and a new data lake initiative. This role involves collaborating with software engineering teams to deliver high-impact solutions, resolve moderately complex technical challenges, and contribute to large-scale planning efforts. The ideal candidate will bring a programmer’s mindset, strong technical depth, and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities

Participate in software engineering initiatives and contribute to planning and execution of deliverables. Analyze and resolve moderately complex engineering challenges involving legacy and modern data systems. Collaborate with internal teams to meet project goals while adhering to policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Support legacy data pipelines and contribute to the development of a new data lake architecture. Document processes and solutions clearly and effectively. Read and interpret compiled codebases (Java, C#); coding experience in these languages is a plus. Technical Requirements

Legacy Pipeline (Immediate Focus): SQL Liquibase SSIS TFS AutoSys New Data Lake Pipeline (Upcoming Project): Hive Dremio Python PySpark Airflow Data Lake Architecture Minimum Qualifications

4+ years of experience in software engineering or equivalent experience through work, consulting, military service, or education. Hands-on experience with several of the technologies listed above. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with both legacy and modern data engineering tools. Ability to quickly onboard and contribute to fast-paced projects. Familiarity with compiled languages such as Java and C#.
