The Data Engineer’s primary responsibility will be creating data marts, shared data sets, automated pipelines, source control and branching. Secondary responsibilities include developing, supporting, and enhancing database programs and reports using the SQL platform. This senior position typically handles projects of a more complex nature and serves as a resource to junior team members.
Key Responsibilities: · Serves as a senior resource to junior team members, assisting with questions, obstacles, and issue resolution. · Creation of data mart databases used for business reporting and operational processes. · Creation of shared dataset used by the business and other team members for self-service reporting. · Management of automated pipelines used to deploy code and SQL changes. · Maintain and organize source control.
Competencies Required: · Excellent customer service, problem solving, and communication skills with the ability to effectively identify and translate business user needs, and to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner. · Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage timelines and prioritize workload in a high-pressure, results-oriented environment. · Self-starter with the ability to work independently while supporting a team environment. · Developed analytical and troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy. · Flexibility to provide after hours and weekend support on occasion to support business needs. · Strong data analysis and mapping skills with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft database and reporting technologies and tools including Office, SharePoint, SQL Server Integration and Reporting Services and Management Studio, Visual Studio, and Team Foundation Server.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience: · 6 years’ experience in a SQL development role; or a combination of directly related education and experience required.
Formal Education & Certification: · High School Diploma or equivalent required. · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
Work Status: · Full-Time.
Supervisory Responsibility: · None.
Travel: · No travel expected.
Working Conditions: · Conditions involve lifting no more than ten pounds, sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, moving, or standing for brief periods, and occasionally lifting and carrying articles like files, ledgers, folders, etc.
