Overview:
As a Data Engineer, you are passionate about building reliable data pipelines and integrations that transform raw data into valuable business insights. With approximately 2 years of experience, you will help design, implement, and maintain data workflows within the Information & Data Solutions team. Your technical skills will support data initiatives such as analyzing customer patterns on the Dolby Customer platform, harvesting analytics usage data, integrating third-party APIs for market research, building BI dashboards, and transforming data to make it useful for business and technical teams across the company. The ideal candidate has strong fundamentals in data engineering, demonstrates growth potential, and can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Job Description:
Manages and optimizes databases used by applications and for warehousing, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning
Builds and maintains ETL pipelines and datalakes using Databricks, focusing on data extraction, transformation, and loading processes
Develops and maintains data workflows in Databricks using Spark, Delta Lake, and Python
Leverages REST APIs to implement and optimize data integrations
Creates and optimizes SQL queries to process and analyze structured and semi-structured data
Works with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, and Redshift to build scalable data solutions
Builds dashboards and collaborates with data analysts to ensure that they meet reporting requirements
Assists in building data models that support business intelligence and reporting needs
Participates in code reviews and follows team development standards
Documents data pipelines, processes, and technical specifications
Troubleshoots and resolves data pipeline issues with guidance from senior team members
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field
At least 2 years of experience in data engineering or similar role
Proficiency with Python, SQL, and Spark for data manipulation and analysis
1 year experience with Databricks
1 year experience administering MySQL or Postgres databases
Hands-on experience with APIs and data extraction patterns
Understanding of ETL processes and data pipeline development
Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Nice to have:
Exposure to AWS data services (S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, etc.)
Exposure to Salesforce or other CRM tools
Exposure to PowerBI, Tableau, and other dashboard and data visualization tools
Exposure to Google Analytics, Hotjar, and other website analytics tools
Understanding of data modeling concepts and best practices
Teamwork & Communications:
Collaborates effectively with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers
Communicates technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Participates actively in team meetings and planning sessions
Seeks guidance appropriately while demonstrating initiative on assigned tasks
Documents work thoroughly for knowledge sharing and future reference
Demonstrates willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
