Position Overview: A leading manufacturer in the food and beverage industry is seeking a Corporate Controls Engineer to join its Corporate Controls Engineering team. This position is based at the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Wooster, Ohio and supports automation and control system projects across multiple production sites.
The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in PLC programming, HMI development, and control system design. You’ll play a critical role in implementing and upgrading manufacturing systems, providing technical support, and contributing to automation standards across all facilities.
Key Responsibilities: Design, install, and commission plant controls and automation systems
Develop and troubleshoot PLC programs (Allen Bradley ControlLogix)
Create and configure HMI applications (preferably using Wonderware / Aveva System Platform)
Specify and design plant control system architecture, including control panels, hardware, and network protocols
Provide technical support through the corporate help desk system
Enforce and contribute to standardization of controls processes and best practices
Collaborate with third-party controls engineering partners for project execution
Support data collection systems and MES (Manufacturing Execution System) platforms
Ensure adherence to high sanitary standards (CIP, sterilization) common in food and beverage environments
Required Skills and Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in controls and automation engineering within the food, beverage, or consumer goods industries
Advanced proficiency with Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix)
Strong background in HMI development; Wonderware (Aveva) System Platform preferred
Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts
Familiarity with control panel design and specification
Experience with MES platforms (e.g., Wonderware MES), .NET environments, and SQL databases is preferred
Understanding of Ethernet/IP communication networks within manufacturing systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Professional demeanor and collaborative mindset
Education & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Controls, or related field) preferred, but significant industry experience may substitute
Willingness to travel up to 25% for project support across multiple facilities
