We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to design, develop, and support control systems for both new and existing automated and semi-automated equipment. This includes injection molding systems and stand-alone assembly cells. The ideal candidate will also contribute to the design of custom inspection systems and support modernization initiatives for current equipment through technology evaluation and implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop custom machine control systems.
Evaluate and implement control technologies for new and legacy equipment.
Collaborate with Engineers and Maintenance Technicians to ensure seamless system integration.
Read, create, and revise electrical schematics, panel layouts, and assembly drawings.
Program, troubleshoot, and repair control logic for manufacturing equipment.
Diagnose and repair electrical system components, including sensors, PLCs, motors, and HMIs.
Wire, test, and troubleshoot machine electrical systems.
Document and maintain machine programming and revisions.
Partner with other departments to support process logic development and issue resolution.
Coordinate with vendors for component selection, training, and outsourced services.
Develop and maintain engineering records, standards, and documentation.
Mentor and provide training to junior team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing control systems for custom automation equipment
Proficient in PLC programming and HMI design
Experienced in equipment installation and system start-up
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or SolidWorks
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project)
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Automotive industry experience
Familiarity with IATF-16949 quality systems
Experience with machining or hand tools
Physical Requirements:
Ability to access all machine areas and observe operational conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and transport short distances
Fine motor skills and coordination for component installation
