*Summary: *
This position will be focused on the commissioning and operation of smaller utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) projects for commercial and industrial applications. Tasks will range from initial construction design reviews and detailed equipment specifications to relay and meter programming, as well as engineering support for projects during operations and warranty periods.
*Duties: *
* Assist in the review of solar PV and BESS projects, focusing on the design and equipment layouts/specifications for the protection and controls aspects of projects.
* Review equipment specifications in accordance with Summit Energy's design standards.
* Review existing ETAP site design files, produce relay and meter setup files, and support onsite commissioning activities with qualified electrical worker staff members.
* Lead the technical performance review of operating projects via time series data analysis to support warranty period operations.
* Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to create cohesive site testing plans that incorporate elements from electrical engineering, construction staff, and other subcontractors involved with the projects.
* Maintain relevant knowledge of national codes and standards as applied to renewable energy system projects.
* Create, organize, and maintain documents associated with the project’s commissioning and testing throughout the project life cycle.
* Perform other duties as required under the guidance of professional engineering staff and senior electrical engineers.
*Required Qualifications: *
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in protection and controls; *or* at least 10 years of experience in protection and controls without an engineering degree.
* Experience with protection and controls using SEL, Beckwith, or other relay and metering equipment.
* Ability to travel to sites as needed to support project commissioning activities within California, approximately 2 times per month.
* Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and the National Electrical Safety Code.
* Strong attention to detail and quality-centric work ethic.

*Preferred Qualifications: *
* 3+ years of progressively responsible work experience in the solar PV engineering design space, renewable energy field, or comparable technical field.
* Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
* ETAP or equivalent electrical modeling experience.
* Construction experience.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
