As a Civil Engineer 1, you will perform professional engineering work, including developmental assignments involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks under close supervision.

Essential Duties/Functions and Responsibilities
Ability to comprehend and apply advanced calculus, modern algebra, and statistical theory principles.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Actively engage clients consistently to maintain and promote work.
Analyze and interpret engineering and construction documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Analyzes and interprets various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Assists in preparing and presenting technical information to colleagues and clients.
Assists Project, Design, and/or Office Managers as requested.
Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Intermediate to advanced personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams), various CAD Software and graphics experience required.
Organizes and maintains project files and documentation.
Performs construction observation and prepares the appropriate documentation.
Prepares design computations, plans, and related construction documents.
Prepares engineering and design documents using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
Prepares quantity calculations and cost estimates.
Prepares reports, specifications, studies, and permits.
Promotes and fosters excellence in all aspects of securing work for the firm and the delivery of services.

To join IEI's team and take on this role, you will have the following qualifications: Minimum 1-3 years of relevant transportation design experience - including but not limited to roadway, highway, and/or bridges
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
Master's degree in civil engineering preferred
EIT is preferred
Fundamental knowledge of structural engineering
Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment who can work on and contribute to several projects simultaneously
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
