Description
Under general administrative direction, plans, directs, manages, and oversees the functions, programs, and operations of the Engineering Division and to serve as the City Engineer. Coordinates assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies. Responsible for the development, review, and oversight of plans, specifications, construction and cost estimates for all City projects and submittals. Provides complex administrative support to the department Director, Assistant City Manager and City Manager. Primarily focused on managing, coaching, and developing other people. Position requires extensive expertise and knowledge in specialized functions or business areas that can be used to develop policies and procedures as well as determining efficient and innovative ways to accomplish the organization's business strategies.

Supervision:

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Engineering; and eight (8) or more years' engineering experience, including at least three (3) years of supervisory or management experience in municipal government. Possession of a valid Professional Engineering (P.E) license issued by the State of Florida. Must be certified P.E. by the State of Florida, have a valid Florida driver's license and maintain satisfactory driving record throughout employment.

Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements) or obtain within one year of employment. Must have or be able to obtain a Florida Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort usually involving some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). Usually involves some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, or standing.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are regularly performed inside without exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, cold, rain, fumes).

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks require sound and visual perception and discrimination. Tasks require oral communication ability.
