Boston Scientific is seeking a highly creative and strategically minded Chemical Engineer within the Active Implantable Systems (AIS) group.

This role is responsible for developing the design and processing of chemical systems, materials, and interactions to support the development of novel sensor technology and associated devices to treat heart failure.

The AIS group includes technologies that monitor, support diagnosis, and treat irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. AIS provides devices and therapies for a patient's entire continuum of carefrom diagnostic to treatment. This division strives to innovate and create a paradigm shift that can solve unmet clinical needs and change what is possible for patients.

This role follows an on-site work model. Employees are expected to work from our Arden Hills, MN office at least four days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

This role:

  • Develops and optimizes the processing of chemical compounds (e.g., hydrogels, adhesives, polymers).
  • Defines chemical requirements and identify methods to characterize chemical properties and reactions.
  • Supports the development and validation of new or modified chemical processes, including equipment specifications, raw material requirements, vendor oversight, and capital requests.
  • Writes procedures for the operation of new or existing equipment and support operator training as needed.
  • Operates under general direction from senior team members or management.
  • Executes deliverables in alignment with the Technical Development Process (TDP) and Quality Systems.
  • Performs troubleshooting on chemical processes and systems.
  • Analyzes and summarize test data to inform decision-making.
  • Prepares documentation and technical reports to communicate findings.
  • Collaborates effectively across functional departments and project teams.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications: Hold a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline. Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. Apply statistical concepts in manufacturing and quality environments.

Preferred qualifications: Bring experience in the medical device or other regulated industry. Hold a master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. Contribute to Class II or Class III medical device product development. Apply advanced experimental design and statistical analysis techniques. Demonstrate knowledge and hands-on experience in hydrogel or other chemical processing techniques. Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
