Camera Software Engineer

2 Days Old

OpenAI is looking to onboard a Camera Software Engineer with expertise in computational imaging, computer vision, and perception technologies to develop next-generation imaging systems for our products. This is a critical role in designing and optimizing high-quality camera pipelines and sensor fusion techniques. Key Responsibilities: Implement low level device drivers to support new camera sensors (CSI C-PHY, D-PHY, CCI interfaces).
Develop and tune ISP pipelines, and zero memory copy frame buffer handling in Linux, including Android camera HAL, v4l2, gstreamer.
Implement computational photography techniques, such as HDR, super-resolution, and low-light enhancement.
Research and develop next-generation vision architectures for robotic, mobile, or autonomous platforms.
Optimize image processing algorithms for hardware platforms such as ISPs, FPGAs, GPUs, and AI accelerators.
Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance imaging capabilities (3A, shading corrections, etc).
Ideal Candidate Will Have: Deep experience in camera systems, computational photography, or imaging R&D.
Strong expertise in image processing, sensor fusion, and perception algorithms.
Hands-on experience with camera hardware (sensors, optics, lens modeling, and structured light technologies).
Proficiency in C++, Python, OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and embedded vision frameworks.
Bonus: Knowledge of autonomous vehicle perception, robotics vision, or depth sensing.
Experience with Google Pixel, Apple iPhone, or similar high-end imaging pipelines.
Familiarity with AI-powered image processing and neural rendering techniques.
