Position Description:

Banner Defense is in search of a C3BM Principal Systems Engineer to engage in C3BM systems engineering efforts. C3BM systems engineering efforts include engaging in Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) and Ballistic Missile Defense System Overhead Persistent Infra-Red Architecture (BOA) technical engineering and integration, future concepts, new functionality, and multi-national exchange designs.


Responsibilities:

  • Support definition and development of C2BMC/BOA system and subsystem interfaces using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Description Documents (IDDs), Interface Requirements Specifications (IRS), and related technical documentation.
  • Use MBSE tools (e.g. Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architect, etc.) to model interfaces and system behaviors throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Analyze operational, functional, and system-level requirements and architecture to drive interface specifications.
  • Support integration and testing of C2BMC/BOA and MDS element's system interfaces in lab and operational environments.
  • Collaborate with system engineers and developers to design and define C2BMC/BOA system interfaces (e.g. hardware and software).
  • Participate in internal/external design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and interface control working groups.
  • Support risk identification and mitigation related to interface design and interoperability.
  • Support integration and interoperability product evaluations of C2BMC/BOA system based on future capabilities within MDA/BC builds through interface, requirements, product definitions.
  • Ensure compliance with interface standards, protocols, and system interoperability requirements.
  • Maintain interface configuration control and manage changes throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Assist with risk assessment and mitigation strategies related to interface development and interoperability.
  • Prepare technical assessments and reports for MDA/BC technical boards and working groups.
  • Prepare official meeting minutes and track actions items to closure.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Masters in STEM field
  • 12+ years' experience working on missile defense-related or other DoD program / project
  • Experience with MDA/DoD systems engineering, network engineering and lifecycle management processes
  • Familiarity with Agile Software Development processes and product development timelines
  • Experience with Missile Defense Agency, Ballistic Missile Defense System, and/or C3BM Program Office work efforts or MDA sensors
  • Knowledge of LINK-16, tactical data link networks
  • Experience with modeling tools (e.g. Cameo Systems Modeler (CSM), Cameo Enterprise Architect, etc.) and integrating with other development tools
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment
  • Ability to apply network engineering and solutions to support real-world applications, test, integration, and operations
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Travel may be required

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

Someone who can thrive in a badge-less contractor environment, collaborating seamlessly with Government, prime contractor, sub-contractor, and supporting contractor personnel. They should be a self-starter with enthusiasm and the capacity to adapt and learn quickly in a fast-paced setting, and must also demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. A background that includes exposure to secure system development and cybersecurity-informed engineering practices is preferred. Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency, Ballistic Missile Defense System, and/or C3BM Program Office work efforts is a plus. Military experience is also considered a plus, further enhancing their ability to contribute effectively in this dynamic and collaborative role.
