Contract Details: Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: 5 months Start: 08/20/2025 End: 01/23/2026 Shift & Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Building Engineer to support building operations in a research facility housing large plants and a greenhouse. In this role, you will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems, execute light electrical work, and manage general building upkeep. You will start in a collaborative team environment before transitioning to a more independent role, ensuring operational excellence and safety compliance in all tasks. Key Responsibilities: Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems. Ensure facility and building systems meet all applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards. Maintain and optimize energy management programs to maximize efficiency. Implement and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for building systems. Respond to and resolve emergency repair needs. Safely store, use, and dispose of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean work environment. Inspect building systems, including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing, ensuring proper functionality and environmental compliance. Apply technical knowledge to develop solutions for complex maintenance challenges. Coach team members and share best practices for building operations. Lead by example, modeling RISE values and fostering a safe, compliant work culture. Required Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4–5 years of relevant experience (combination of education and experience will be considered). HVAC experience with strong troubleshooting and maintenance skills. Safety compliance experience in building operations. Nice-to-Have Experience: Supervisory or shift management experience. Broad knowledge of building maintenance disciplines. Required Skills: HVAC maintenance and repair. Safety compliance expertise. Basic troubleshooting and building maintenance proficiency. Preferred Skills: Universal CFC/EPA 608 certification. Light electrical repair experience. Preventive maintenance program management. Energy management system optimization. Additional Skills: Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset. Ability to lift/carry loads of 50 lbs. or more and perform physical building maintenance tasks.
