We are looking for a dynamic data engineer to join a fast-growing analytics team. You will be primarily working with big-volume data leveraging the newest and cutting edge technologies available on the market. You will work alongside senior engineers, analysts, and data scientists to ensure our data pipelines are efficient, reliable, and scalable. This is a great opportunity to develop technical expertise and grow in the data engineering field.
This role is intended to be located at the Deriva Headquarters office in Charlotte, NC. The office position is hybrid.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to move and process data from various sources
Support database management, including data modeling, indexing, and query optimization
Help ensure data quality, accuracy, and security across systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, resolving issues promptly
Participate in code reviews and contribute to process improvements
Required/Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, or other closely related discipline
Desired Qualifications
Deriva Energy Internship or co-op experience related to data engineering
Hands-on experience in Java/Spring boot building scalable, high performing and robust Java applications
Python programming
Hands-on experience in PySpark/Spark
Hands-on experience with AWS, Bedrock and Gen AI
Experienced with RDBMS and ETL tools
Strong collaborations skills working with data architects, data scientists, developers, and other IT team members
Extensive experience in large scale system implementation and project management
