The Position The City of Yuba City is currently recruiting for an Assistant Engineer / Associate Civil Engineer!

This recruitment will close on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 12PM (PST) or upon receiving twenty (20) minimally qualified applications. Under general supervision or direction, performs various professional field and office engineering work related to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP), development, traffic engineering, facilities, infrastructure, and other engineering projects and programs; performs project management and administration; confers with developers, contractors, and representatives of other agencies regarding facility and infrastructure development; administers professional services and construction contracts; administers federal and state grant funds associated with construction projects; provides professional assistance to management, other departments, and the public in areas of expertise; conducts a variety of studies and prepares and presents reports; and performs related duties as assigned.

Receives general supervision (Assistant Engineer) or direction (Associate Civil Engineer) from assigned supervisory or management personnel. The Assistant Engineer exercises no direct supervision over but may provide training to staff. The Associate Civil Engineer exercises technical and functional direction over and provides training to staff. Assistant Engineer/Associate Civil Engineer:Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major study in civil or mechanical engineering. An Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by the State of California will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering.

Experience :

Assistant Engineer: None.

Associate Civil Engineer: Two (2) years of responsible professional engineering experience equivalent to an Assistant Engineer with the City of Yuba City.

Licenses and Certifications:

Assistant Engineer/Associate Civil Engineer Possession of a valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record, to be maintained throughout employment. Associate Civil Engineer Possession of valid registration as a Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering issued by the State of California.
