Volt is immediately hiring for a Mechanical Applications Engineer in St. Charles, Illinois
Join the engineering team at this unique company where every machine is custom made and no 2 machines are the same.
Each machine is carefully constructed and controlled for very specific customer specifications.

Schedule: Monday- Friday, in office in St. Charles, IL
As a Mechanical Applications Engineer you will:
Meet with customers, gather and analyze RFQ information, develop concepts, generate pricing worksheets, prepare proposals for formal presentations.
Use SolidWorks and AutoCAD to design custom machinery
Work with the internal build team as they bring the design to life
Evaluate and analyze new technologies, products, and trends
Support development of new promotional / collateral materials
Provide support for project modifications affecting project scope, price, or delivery
Follow up with customers to secure project orders
Initiate project kick-off meeting with internal project team, interpret specifications & proposal.
Provide project team with guidance and commercial support throughout duration of project.
Provide various engineering and marketing functions as required to support the Applications Group
Travel as required to support customer development and new business opportunities. (2-4 times per year)
Support / participate in trade show exhibitions or advertising campaigns as required
This is a full-time Direct Hire opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have: B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering , from an ABET accredited university or an equivalent experience.
CAD Software literacy in SolidWorks , AutoCAD .
5+ years custom machine design experience and strong drafting skills-read and create drawings and sketches.
Project management experience ( pricing, design, customer interface, etc.).
Ability to conceptualize solutions / what are the pitfalls, what will work and what wont.
Excellent communication skills; extensive experience with direct supplier and customer contact.
Strong time and resource management experience - directing projects, engineers, team members.
Strong organizational skills - attention to detail - disciplined.
Results-oriented - dedicated to meeting/beating schedules and budgets.
Able to travel occasionally to a customer site (possibly 2-4 times a year)
Valid drivers license.
Salary: $90,000 - 120,000 per year
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidates education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
