Position Overview The Applications Engineer (field based) is a customer-facing role responsible for conducting demonstrations, overseeing system buyoffs, and contributing to the development of systems and processes. This role engages with a wide variety of customers, providing technical expertise before and after the sale, including during product demonstrations. This dynamic position utilizes technical expertise and knowledge to install, maintain, and repair purchased products or services. In addition, this role is accountable for developing assembly processes on machines and providing innovative solutions to customers' technical problems. Key Responsibilities Perform application testing and software installation, ensuring proper communication between equipment and systems Manage new machine setup and calibration Oversee system buyoffs, including installation, training, and demos at tradeshows and with customers Provide contributions to the system manuals and other forms of documentation Develop assembly processes, provide innovative solutions and offer training to customers Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair machines on-site and virtually to ensure optimal performance Provide training to customers, participate in the setup and demonstrations of new products, and assist in the preparation of system orders Provide pre and post-sales support for Mycronic services and products including preventive maintenance and customer care Analyze complex technical challenges and develop innovative, custom solutions for diverse customer applications Conduct root cause analysis for recurring system issues, implementing sustainable corrective actions and preventative measures Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to provide field-based insights, influencing future product enhancements and design improvements Serve as a primary technical liaison between customers and internal engineering/development teams, translating complex technical concepts into understandable solutions Experience and Qualifications Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, along with a minimum of two to three years of experience in an Application or Field Service Engineering role Must have industry-specific experience; with a strong preference for candidates from the PCB testing or circuit board assembly industry Demonstrated understanding of electronics, wiring diagrams, and documentation, with the ability to perform precise measurements Ability to work productively with all departments in the organization Proficient in networking concepts and server interaction, including the ability to connect and configure equipment to customer networks, troubleshoot basic connectivity issues, and understand fundamental network settings Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) Exceptional customer service skills and a proven track record of building positive client relationships Highly organized, detail-oriented, and an effective communicator, capable of thriving in a dynamic, problem-solving environment. Ability to work independently from a home office and manage travel effectively A valid passport is required for international business travel needs Working Conditions/Physical & Mental Demands The physical demands and working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Significant computer work should be expected. Travel Requirements Travel domestically and internationally is expected, up to 50%.
