Description We are seeking experienced professionals with a proven track record in building models and model-driven products to enhance user experiences. Join us to impact hundreds of millions of customers through billions of interactions with foundation model-powered Apple Intelligence features available on iPhone, iPad, HomePod, Mac, Watch, CarPlay, and TV across more than 30 languages.

Algorithm development: Define signals important in prompts, responses, and Chain of Thought (CoT) reasoning steps, often requiring fine-tuned models for specific use cases.

Model evaluation: Conduct balanced evaluations, perform error analysis, and identify improvements for model capabilities.

Ablation experiments: Test data augmentation strategies, debug training errors, and tune hyperparameters and data mixtures to achieve desired outcomes.

Data processing and filtering: Efficiently process and filter large, often messy, datasets.

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on ML engineering experience.

Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics.

Experience as an ML modeler/scientist/researcher, familiar with classic algorithms (SVM, Random Forest, Naive Bayes, KNN) and modern frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax).

Familiarity with multi-modal data, including image and video.

Strong software engineering skills, with a focus on code quality and scalability.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with LLM training phases such as LoRA, SFT, RLHF, and reward modeling.

Effective communication skills, including active listening and empathy.

Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn continually.

Creative and critical thinker with a drive to improve processes and a high tolerance for ambiguity.

At Apple, compensation includes base salary within a range ($166,600 - $296,300), with opportunities for growth, stock options, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits such as health coverage, retirement plans, educational reimbursement, and discounts.
