Backend Software Engineer - AI R&D Integration

Their platform delivers significantly more accurate, faster, and cost-effective solutions for document review in litigation, investigations, and compliance. What You Will Do Collaborate closely with R&D engineers to integrate experimental AI models and capabilities into production systems Design and maintain scalable backend architectures that support high-performance AI applications Develop APIs that enable seamless interaction between new AI features and core platform components Optimize systems for the performance and low-latency demands of data-intensive legal applications Support rapid iteration cycles through CI/CD processes to quickly prototype and deploy new AI capabilities Bridge the gap between research innovations and production-ready features Ideal Candidate Background Experience in backend development for production environments with exposure to AI model integration Strong understanding of data structures, distributed system architecture, and API design for microservices Familiarity with tech stack including Python, C#, Java, PostgreSQL, Lucene, Qdrant, Docker, and Kubernetes Academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field Ability to balance rapid iteration with code quality and production stability Up-to-date knowledge of current AI/ML research, publications, and open-source models Preferred Qualifications Experience working with AI or ML teams at established companies or startups building AI products Background combining larger tech company experience with startup environments Strong academic credentials in ML Research or Engineering Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, CircleCI, and Gradle Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary range of $180K-$210K with total compensation between $200K-$250K Comprehensive benefits package Professional development opportunities in a rapidly growing field Collaborative and innovative company culture Hybrid work environment in NYC (1-2 days in office required)
