The Work Evaluates technical and economic factors, recommending engineering and manufacturing actions for attainment of design objectives of process or product by applying knowledge of electrical engineering best practices and related technologies. Reviews plans for new products and factors, such as the use of applicable COTS electronics solutions, for control systems and low power applications and recommendations ensuring attainment of design objectives. Plans and implements laboratory operations to develop electrical procedures and wiring diagrams for use in new and innovative designs in order to fulfill product cost and performance needs.
A multidiscipline position requiring understanding and experience in the design of control systems, including the use of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and industrial relay logic based components.
Additional requirements include experience in designing cable interfaces and multilayered PWB based backplanes. It is expected that the candidate has experience with, and is able to provide guidance to the team with regards to best practices for use in workmanship criteria for electrical interfaces, circuit boards and cable management for both prototype and production designs. Assists research and product engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, procurement and facility engineering in matters related to electrical engineering.
Plans, conducts and implements laboratory operations in developing new electrical design procedures to fulfill production and performance requirements. Confers with component suppliers and Field Application Engineers (FAE) during the design phase of projects and conducts the evaluation of components suitable for specific product applications. Collects test data at intervals throughout the design phase and presents this information for the team during peer reviews.
